Bangladesh, a country of 140 million people in the South Asia has potential skilled & unskilled worker. Besides, greater members of educated youths are coming out yearly in the employment market with
proper educational background and certificates. Due to lack of development in the industrial sector and also of mechanized agriculture, the youths of Bangladesh are gradually moving towards foreign countries for jobs of different nature with proper required technical training from their
home country, Bangladesh.
Taking all these aspects in view and in order to develop the skilled manpower,necessity of establishment of Training Centre was felt and accordingly one Training Centre named - JANATA TRAINING CENTRE (JTC) was established in the year 1990 in the heart of Dhaka city at House No.7, Road No.7, Gulshan Model Town-1, Dhaka-1212.
This Centre is run and managed by a group of highly qualified instructors having sufficient academic background and many years of teaching experiences. To make it more attractive Expatriate instructors have been employed in the Centre. Together with the local instructors, JTC has been very successful in training and has attained considerably a high percentage of trained & skilled worker.
Trainees appearing in the JTC are properly interviewed and evaluated according to their credentials before recommending them to their respective fields of training. Regular classes covering Basic English are taken. Instruction materials are provided free of cost and lessons are conducted by competent local and overseas trained technical personnels, engineers and instructors. Performance of Trainees on written test, practical test as well as attendance is monitored for further evaluation. Progressive Performance Reports are forwarded to foreign employer & companies and agencies on request.
They are trained on the required, efficient and safe use of conventional and proper tools.

1. Skill Development on Mechanical Wing:
Here the Trainees can get practical training to handle, operate and repair various kinds of machineries like Lathe Machine, Milling machine, Shaper machine, Drill Machine, Heat Treatment Machine, Injection & Moulding Machine, Die Casting, Galvanizing, Steel and Aluminium Fabricating, Welding, Pipe Fittings, Automobile Mechanism, Denting, Painting, Petrol Engine Repairing, Diesel Engine Repairing, Wire-Drawings, Switch Gear, Transformers, Motor, Fans, Generators, Meter Instruments, various Apparatus and components. Training is available on Radio, TV, VCD, DVD and other electric and electronic items like Refrigerators, Air-conditioners, Water Cooler and all kinds of garments and industrials Machineries. Training is also available for Heavy Vehicle Driving and Light Vehicle Driving for the Professional Drivers
2. Construction Related Skill Development:
Trainees are interviewed and evaluated according to their credentials and a suitable trade is then recommended to them. Trades available are Steel Reinforcement, Metal Formwork, Timber Formwork and Tiling. Training day start from 8:00 O'clock in the morning with 2 (Two) hours of classroom sessions. The rest of the day until early evening is spent for the practical and actual work exercises. Theory classes cover basic English and arithmetic other trades which require "K" paper test cover the individual trade's work methods and procedures, building parts and construction sequences, drawing interpretations and calculations. Instruction materials are provided free and lessons are conducted by our competent local and overseas trained engineers and instructors. Extended training in the evening is rendered to candidates which require more attention and supervision. Instructors take turns in staying overnight at the centre to oversee this extended
training. Trainee's performance on written test, practical test as well as attendance are monitored for further evaluation. Progressive performance reports on requests are forwarded to companies and agencies.
Steel Reinforcement Work. The theory and practical session for steel reinforcement (rebar) work is divided into four topics namely:
- Functions and behaviour of building elements.
- Functions and properties of reinforcement bars.
- Interpretation of drawings and bar bending schedule.
- Good practices of flXing steel reinforcement bars.
Trainees will learn the different structural components of reinforced concrete buildings, their functions and behaviour when subjected to load and how the load is transferred from slab down to the footing or pile foundation. They will understand the effectiveness of rebars with respect to position, the different stresses that they resist, methods of cutting, bending, tying, lapping and protecting rebars. Trainees are taught on how to read and interpret rebar drawing, prepare bending schedules and work out the quantity of rebars as specified in the drawing. Trainees are provided with shop drawings, rebar materials, safety apparels, tools and bending tables for theIr practical sessions. They are trained on the proper tool handling and usage, rebar cutting and techniques, -the different methods of tying rebars and their usage. Finally they will be required to assemble and fix the different cut and bent bars as specified on the workshop drawings. Good practices of fixing rebars is emphasized by showing the proper sequences and method of fixing the rebar on the different structural building components such as slabs, beams, columns, pile caps and footings.
Metal Formwork : The theory and practical session for metal Formwork are divided into four topics namely:
- Building elements.
- General knowledge on metal formwork system.
- Interpretation of project drawings and preparation of metal form arrangement drawings and panel schedules.
- Good practices of erecting and dismantling metal formwork.
Trainees are taught to understand and identify the main components of reinforced concrete buildings, their functions and behaviour when subjected to load and how the load is transferred from slab down to the footing or pile foundation. They will be trained to know the classifications and symbols of metal forms, when and where they are used, how the pressure of concrete build-up the Formwork, how to strengthen the Formwork by providing adequate support, props, bracing and tiebacks. They will learn the different fasteners used on modern metal Formwork such as Lpins and Uclips, their functions and usage. They will learn the minimum period before striking the Formwork of building elements. Trainees are provided with shop drawings, bracing and propping materials, tools trainees to interpret project drawings, prepare the metal form arrangement, work out the panel schedule and quantities. They will be trained on how to assemble and dismantle the metal forms with emphasis on proper method and sequencing.
Trainees would be issued with four sets of project drawings, carpentry tools, timber materials and safety apparels. They would be trained on the proper, efficient and safe use conventional and power tools. They will be taught on how to interpret project drawings, work out the dimensions and quantity of required timber materials, layout and mark the sidings on a standard '/z" plywood and finally cut the mark plywood. They will learn the pressure of concrete on the Formwork and would be trained to determine on how to strengthen the Formwork by providing adequate support, props, bracing and tie-backs. Trainees arc required to assemble the cut Formwork with emphasis on proper sequencing, layout and dimension accuracy, plumbness and level accuracy. The completed project would also be assessed on its stability, adequacy of bracings and squareness.
Bricklaying. 'Trainees will be trained on how to prepare the substrate, how to apply the plastering mortar and how to maintain a consistent bedding joints, plumbness and levelling, The completed project would be assessed on bedding joints, leveling, scIuareness at right angle wall and cleanliness.
Plastering. Trainees will be trained on the proper way of mixing plastering materials, how to prepare the substrate and how to apply the plastering mortar. Trainees also need to determine its desire thickness of undercoat plaster, flatness of undercoat wall, plumbness and squareness at internal angle wall. The completed project would be assessed on thickness of undercoat plaster, plumbness, squareness and cleanliness.
Tiling. Trainees are focused on tile finishing skill development. Initially the trainees would be trained on plastering the substrate (surface to be tiled) in preparation for tile application. They will be trained on the proper way of mixing plastering materials, how to prepare the substrate, how to apply the plastering mortar and how to determine its desired level, grade and plumbness. Trainees will be issued with four sets of project drawings, tools and tiling materials. They would be trained on how to payout the project dimensions and references, the proper way of cutting tiles and application. They would be familiarized and trained on the uses of different tiling accessories such as plastic spacers and PVC strips for efficient, accurate and aesthetic finished. They will be trained on how to apply tiles on walls, floors and stairs. The completed project would be assessed on dimension and level accuracy, squareness, plumbless, flatness and cleanliness. The project is further assessed for tile bonding test. Tiles are pulled-out at random locations and bonding is considered acceptable if more than 80% of the mortar backing still adhered to the tiles.
3. Garments Division Training Wing:
It is a clear vacuum of skilled worker in our Garments Community of Bangladesh. A well-equipped training workshop is very essential nowaday. But no dependable training College or any assistance has so far been established to overcome the problem. In view of this circumstances we present a "Training Course" duly compiled by our Research Cell of Garments Division. To well equip and train in various sectors there is an arrangement of training and orientation in the fields of Pattern Making, Cutting, Sewing, Circular, Power Flat Knitting, Linking, Sample, Making, Production Planning and Control, Quality Control Inspection, Knitwear Sewing, Fur Sewing, Pressing, Quality Control Inspection & Supervisory.
4. Agriculture/ Horticulture Training Wing:
Around 10000 Sqft open space is available for plantation/agriculture training at Faridpur, 2hrs. drive from Dhaka. The Trainees are getting practical training here in addition to the class room training on the mentioned subject. In the class room they are getting theoretical knowledge on agriculture and at field training they are getting practical knowledge on the subject how to prepare the land for cultivation, proportion of fertilizer to be used for specific land to make the land cultivable. They also learn how to prepare seed-plot, to select the proper season for sowing and how to nursing seedlings. They learn about appropriate use of insect killer and the best time for its use and plucking out of the flower and all about the floriculture & harvesting
5. IT Sector Development Wing:
Here the Trainees are getting lesson on Computer-based training. We are developing the Trainees as IT Specialist on different IT Sectors like Hardware, Software, Programming, Data Based Specialist, Web Page Developer, Net Working Specialist. To train up the trainees experienced Computers Engineers, Programmers who have vast knowledge and experience on Programming and Net working Systems have been employed. Young stars having science background on their academic level are selected for undergoing these training to cope up with the different programmes to enable them to undertake similar nature of works abroad on employment.
6. Language Development Wing:
Our main language is Bengali which is our mother tongue. But other than Bangladesh and Eastern Part of India this Language is not applicable. So wc are giving proper lesson to our trainees on English, Arabic, Bhasa Malaysia and Korean Language. As per selection of the worker for specific country we train up them for that country on language and other socio cultural arena so that they can work smoothly in that country without any embarrassment.
Accommodation of Trainees :
The JTC within its premises has a wide range of dormitory facilities to accommodate trainees in addition to their fooding facilities. Adequate Kitchen and Dinning facilities are in existence. Moreover, sufficient number of TV, VIDEO and other entertainment purposes of the on-going trainees within the same premises.
Teaching Personnel :
Having academic background on civil, mechanical, agriculture and IT professions 4 (four) engineers are providing training on regular basis to the trainees. 14 trainers are engaged for giving due training in 6 sectors while 6 Administrative Staff are taking proper care in providing administrative and logistic support to the Trainees.
